about a month or so ago the BCS made on of the most idiotic decisions yet. and it ticked me off. the proposal was made for a four team playoff. all the bowl games would still be the same, nothing would change except the top four teams would playoff for the outright national champion. but the BCS of course turned it down. Everything the BCS has ever done is for money. and what would this idea do? it would just add an extra huge game to their bowl season and rack in big bucks and this time it actually benefits the game of college football. but they turn it down. now imagine for a second that this system was in place last season. after the nuts college football season and the way it went down with the national championship, nobody really thought of LSU that way, as the outright champion.. there were so many teams complaining that they had been robbed of the chance. that LSU didn't deserve it with two losses (which i dont think they did but thats how it happened.) now say this system was in last year. we would've saw LSU, Ohio State, West Virginia, and say Kansas in this four team playoff. and say LSU came out and won the title anyways. there would be no controversy. no complaining no nothin. LSU would be the national champions and that would be that. teams like utah and boise state that bust the BCS wouldn't be complaining that they were robbed. if they could make the top four in the bcs they would have that chance. to see if they really were good enough to be the outright champions. but the BCS being the idiotic baffoons that they are changed nothing. college football looks like its going to be this way for awhile. non-BCS teams... please keep busting in. make these morons realize that this league is going downhill the way they run their system.

The BCSTo start off I want to say that I agree that we need a college football playoff and it would have been a terrific start to a playoff system to have had this pasted but by no means would it have ended the controversy and complaining. According to you the 4 teams should have been LSU, Ohio State, West virginia, and Kansas. If you look at the top 4 teams according to the BCS rankings it would have been LSU, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma ( the later 2 losing to the 2 that you selected). So there still would have been plenty of controversy why not West Virginia, Kansas (who only had 1 loss) or even Georgia and for that matter why not Hawaii, we saw they didn't derserve it based on their preformance against Georgia but before that we had no idea how good they really were. They could have pulled a Utah or Boise State, and while were on that subject you said that teams like Utah or Boise State would not be complaining that they were robbed I think they would be complaining even more, because neither Utah or Boise State (or even Hawaii) we ranked in the top 4 in the BCS rankings so they would not have been part of the playoff. I think your main point is that we need a playoff system and I agree with that 100%, I would even agree that the 4 team playoff would be better than what we have now, but there still would be plenty of complaining and controversy so in the long run it would not have fixed much of anything. As a fellow cougar fan I would love to see a chance for my team to get into the national championship mix but the way it is set up now or even with a 4 team playoff it is next to impossible because there is next to no chance that a non-bcs team could be ranked in the top 2 or even 4 according to the BCS (Utah was ranked 6th and Bosie was ranked 8th). I hope there is a change in the future it would have been nice if they started something, but at any rate I don't think there will really ever be an end to the controversy and complaining, but it would be nice if they actually tried to do something. |

The BCSyou're right, it wouldn't do much to end the controversey and complaining, but it would better decide an outright champion. this year there especially still would've been the complaining but this was a rare year. i don't know, it just frustrates me to see the BCS not change anything |

The BCSOnce again the BCS is showing its true self. Who cares what 99.9% of college footbal fans want. We like useless games and bowls with no signficance. Let's see.. last year 32 bowls with one that made any difference. Yes, thats the BCS I know. Who really thought the two top teams played on Jan 8th? Well perhaps LSU deverved it. I want a playoff. No system is perfect. 4 teams, 8, 16 or like basketball 56. No matter how it's decided (conference champ plus 2 at large) someone will complain but... this is better than what we have. I know this system is in place for the next couple of years. So we must live with it for now. But why put up with a old used model when we can get a brand new one. I am not sure what the NCAA thinks when they get together and decide they like the BCS the way it is and will keep it. They really should do it democratically, let the fans decide. It sure beats what this comitee did a couple of weeks ago. |

The BCSA plus 1 (4 team playoff) is better than the current BcS system. I don't think it is enough though. It is still just picking from the top tier programs from the BcS conferences and so no one else has a chance the national championship. An 8 team playoff is considerably better because it at least gives all the BcS conferences a chance to win it. A 16 team playoff is the only way to show who is the true national champion. It will give every conference and thus every team in D1-A a chance to prove themselves. It starts with the regular season. If you don't win your conference then you probably don't deserve to be playoffs (there would be some of the better teams who didn't win their conference getting in also). A team wins its conference and then it should have a chance to see if it can make a run thru the playoffs. Teams like Boise State, BYU, Fresno State, Utah (ugh!), Marshal, etc should be beaten on the field and not in the polls. |
